Integrated Cancer Research Center Seed Grant

Integrated Cancer Research Center

Seed Grant Program

Submission Deadline: November 19, 2018

PURPOSE: The goal of the ICRC Seed Grant Program is to stimulate new research programs in integrated cancer biology. Priority will be given to proposals focused on the acquisition of preliminary data for the submission of an NIH R21/R01 or equivalent grant proposal. While collaborative inter-disciplinary proposals are encouraged, proposals from individual researchers are also welcome. The committee will select two (2) awards for $30,000 each.

Due to the short time frame of the funding, any proposal requiring IACUC or IRB approval must have the protocol approved prior to submitting a proposal to this program. Please list the IACUC or IRB protocol number and approval date.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION: This program is intended to stimulate new research programs in integrated cancer biology by providing seed funding to obtain preliminary data necessary for the submission of an external grant application. Applications will be reviewed and selected by the ICRC Steering Committee.

FORMAT: The length of the application shall not exceed two pages, excluding a cover page, a budget page, and NIH biosketches for the principal investigator(s). An individual NIH biosketch shall not exceed two pages. The research description should be no more than two pages and include information on project aims, significance, key methods, long-term impact/goals of the work, and plans for a grant application. A reference page should be added and is not included as part of the two page limit.

BUDGETS: The requested budget should not exceed $30, 000. The proposals should include a detailed budget and show specifically anticipated expenditures. Items eligible for support include: salary for research staff, postdoctoral fellows and students, as well as materials and supplies, travel, and small equipment.
